I am the Member of Parliament working to pass Bill C420, a bill that will provide freedom of choice in your personal health care.

Bill C420 aims to stop the federal government from continuing to treat vitamins, minerals, herbs and other natural health products (NHPs) as drugs. Bill C420 will bring NHPs into the domain of Health Canada 's food directorate and provide all Canadians with freedom of choice in their personal health care.

There is a raft of email circulating on the internet which is extremely unclear and, at first glance, may suggest that Bill C420 will further restrict NHPs through new regulatory controls. These posts are utter nonsense and imply precisely the opposite of what I am trying to accomplish.

Bill C420 passed Second Reading in the House of Commons in early March 2005. In the coming weeks and months, the bill will be studied by the House of Commons Standing Committee on Health.
